Origins 2011 - Post Show Report

Posted by Marc

I just got back from Origins Game Fair, and it was a fantastic show. I saw lots of my writer friends there including Jean Rabe, Michael Stackpole, Donald Bingle, and Steven Saus. On top of that, I got to catch up with Steve, Darren, and the rest of my friends from HERO Games!

I also got to meet a lot of great authors that I hadn't met before, including Aaron Allston, Walter Hunt, RT Kaelin, Janine Spendlove, Sarah Hans, CS Marks, and Bryan Young.

Plus, I got to meet the guys from Cubicle 7. If you don't know who Cubicle 7 is, you should! They make one of my absolute favorite RPGS: Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space. It's a brilliant game, and if you haven't played it you should! They're also working on the new Lord of the Rings RPG, which should be fantastic.

To cap it all off, the Shadowrun Anthology that I'm in, Spells & Chrome, won an Origins Award! Hoody hoo!

Definitely a fantastic con! Next up: Gen Con!

Origins, another amazing gaming con, is just around the corner! In past years I've gone as an attendee, but this year I'll be speaking on the writing panels. It should be a ton of fun! More info to come!

World Fantasy 2010

I just returned from World Fantasy 2010. This was the first year I attended, and it was a fantastic experience. Lots of incredible authors there and some excellent seminars. Plus, the people who put it on were just great. Their love for what they do is infectious, and I'm grateful to have experienced it!

Gen Con 2010 Post-Game Report

As always, Gen Con was fantastic. It was great to see everyone, and the Writer's Symposium was a great success. I especially enjoyed the Read & Critique and Write & Critique sessions. The quality of the work we heard was just fantastic. And of course, the Eye of Argon reading left me laughing for days afterward. Now it's back to the grind as I dig back into the novel I'm trying to finish for World Fantasy in October!

Gen Con 2010

Gen Con is finally here! I'm leaving for Gen Con on Wednesday morning, and I'll be there through Sunday. As in previous years, I'll be speaking on the Writer's Symposium panels. If you're coming to Gen Con and have any interest in writing, you really should attend. I can't say enough about how great the Symposium is. It's the place where I and a number of other writers I know got their start. If nothing else, stop by and say "Hi!"
